Internal Family Systems (IFS): An Analogy

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is all about noticing our parts, getting to know them, and working towards healing any hurting parts so that we can find increased balance in our internal system. This can be challenging for people to wrap their heads around sometimes. It can be hard to distinguish our parts from one another and see ourselves as made up of more than one thing.

Then I realized that it's not so different from how our physical body works. We all have body parts, and when they are all working well together we can feel strong, healthy, and pain-free. On the other hand, when there's pain experienced in one part of our body it is often connected to something else, and only when we find the root and treat it can we find that balance once again. In this video I expand on this idea and explain how giving our internal parts care and attention can help us access increased mental and emotional balance and harmony.
