Understanding Mom Rage

Mom rage is real. Unfortunately, so many of us experience difficulty with anger, and find ourselves snapping at our families, or feel irritable much more often than we'd like. It can be so hard to experience this, because of course, we don't want to be reacting this way, but it feels so hard to control. Postpartum rage can be explained at least in part by the significant hormonal and biological shifts that we experience as we become new moms. Oftentimes rage persists because there's so many other thoughts, emotions, and experiences beneath the surface, that shows up as anger. Sadly, so many modern moms experience feelings of sadness, loneliness, overwhelm, disappointment, and resentment, which when left unattended to, can often show up as anger and rage. Know that you're not alone. Just because it's common doesn't mean we should accept it.
